“ It seems like DECA listens. Prices are lower then outside on most items. Even eggs are priced right ! ”
“ Monday, 9/23/2024: Stopped by after my clinic research appointment at UCSD La Jolla. Although it's an older structure the interior is bright, organized, and tidy. The aisles are wide & easy to maneuver the shopping cart around. This is a great benefit for military members & retirees since there are no taxes and pricing is a little lower than public supermarkets. The downside is there are few choices for organic items and the variety of items is limited. They no longer offer bags so it's imperative to bring some! The cashiers are very friendly and the baggers still rely on tips. The staff there are usually very friendly & helpful. ”
“ Stopped in to pick up groceries for the week since it was close by, normally go to 32nd Street. The usual good prices, brands and food choices. Not the biggest Commissary but didn't have any problems getting what I needed. The staff was out and about, but I didn't need to bother them for any requests. The building seems a little older, but I'm sure it's served the base well. Will always recommend the commissary, and will be back if I'm in the area. ”
“ Edit: Okay I need to update my review from a year ago. Maybe they were struggling from the "shutdown shortages" that seemed to be plaguing a lot of places at the time but now it is significantly (and consistently) better. Prices are good and the service is friendly, although it can be a little slow depending when you go. Best times are when they first open and between 3 and 3:30. Old review: Let me start off by saying I've been coming here for a few years and that most of the people who work here that I've encountered are pleasant and helpful. That said, unfortunately the typical scene is bad produce and empty shelves. I understand that the shutdown probably made it worse but this is ridiculous. Even before the shutdown there would be rotten fruit and vegetables and poorly stocked shelves. I have to wonder if it's more a management thing than anything else. Even on the non refrigerated shelves it looks like this. ”
